What: camping & mountain bike riding! an awesome combination. Fresh air, exercise, making new friends, and spending quality time with old ones.

When: October 26, 27 & 28th. I'll arrive about 1 pm, you can arrive at 2pm. I will Stay until 3pm on Sunday. Please don't arrive before 2pm on Friday.

Who: anyone who likes to camp and ride bikes. DORBA, FWMBA and WMBC members are welcome, and people who are not members are welcome. This is a kid friendly event! Vulgar language in front of children is frowned upon.

Solavaca Ranch, Mountain Bike Trail, and Campgrounds: http://solavaca.com just a few miles northwest of Glen Rose Texas (see maps below)

Trail Map: I recommend that you print out, and bring this Trail Map (http://solavaca.com/download/trailmap.pdf) with you.

NO DOGS ALLOWED on this working ranch. The beautiful, people-loving, goat herding, Great Pyrenees dogs that live there do not tolerate any dogs. These dogs just might turn out to be your most enduring memory of the whole weekend!

Riding: two excellent trails to choose from: Dinosaur Valley State Park, and at Solavaca Ranch, two of the very best there is in Texas.

Camping: Solavaca Ranch (see maps below) There are 2 Porta-let toilets. What about showers? I use the 5 gallon Sun Showers sold at Sports Authority and Walmart, but the best ones are at REI. They work GREAT, just hang them up from a tree before your ride and they dispense hot water when you come back from it. I will bring my shower tent and set it up in the woods so anyone can use it for privacy. Or, you can easily go get a nice shower about 4 miles down the road at Dinosaur Valley State Park. We will all have one big communal campfire to sit around. You can have your own private charcoal fires of course.

cost: $12 per person for the weekend including 2 nights camping PER person, and up to 3 days of riding. Saturday arrivals pay only $8. If you come out to ride for the day, it will cost you $3 per day. This is Kids 12 and under are FREE. However the day use fee at Dinosaur Valley is not included if you ride there (if you don't have an annual pass).

who: open to all fun loving people who are considerate of others. No loud music allowed…I love loud music at home, and at rock concerts, but not a campouts… and please keep your voices low after midnight. Bring your acoustic instruments and play for us!

Campfire: There will be ONE campfire, and only one campfire. We want everyone to all come together and form one circle and not divide up into cliques around their own campfires. Plus, the landowner (Mack) wants there to be only one fire source to watch out over. You can have your own charcoal fires at your campsite to cook your food.

Alcoholic beverages: This is NOT a Texas State Park, so you don't have to hide your adult beverages! Yeah! We are adults… we can handle it…. We have never had anyone become drunk and disorderly/obnoxious, so far…. and want to keep it that way.
We will have this campsite all to ourselves.

Caveat Emptor: Neither DORBA, nor me, is responsible for your safety, your happiness, your food, your health, or anything else. It is all up to you. I am just announcing a little get together for people who like to camp and mountain bike. There will be NO volunteers at this camp-out and trail ride.

Group ride: We will have a no drop group ride Saturday Morning around 10am or so. And everyone is invited, and no one will be left behind.

Requirements: You must sign two liability waivers. One for DORBA and one for Solavaca Ranch. Please print out this waiver http://files.meetup.com/3841722/NEW-WAIVER.pdf ; bring it with you. You must also wear a bicycle helmet when you ride the trails.

Why?: I have been organizing the Fall Campout & Trail Ride in for few years now. I want DORBA & FWMBA folk to be able to get together for a campout that needs no volunteer work... just riding and relaxing. So come on out and see this beautiful part of the North Texas area, and ride one of the funnest trails you can ride, with trails appropriate for a skill levels of riders.

Primitive Fire Starting Contest: there will be a bow drill fire starting competition. You can order a bow drill from here, there are several to choose from if you scroll down ( https://goo.gl/kMwupd ) for $20+ to practice and compete with, or make your own from scratch.

Pumpkin Carving Contest: bring a pumpkin to carve! I will have enough carving tools, patterns and candles for everyone. Categories: Scariest, Cutest/Funniest, best Bike related theme, and Best Overal.

Where: its southwest of Fort Worth. Here is a Google Map

If you have any questions, you can "pm" me. Or email me: cm AT mannphoto DOT com

If you have a telescope, an acoustic guitar or any non-amplified instrument... bring it!

The left two trophies are for the primitive hand bow firestarting competition. The other awards are for the Pumpkin Carving Contest.
